My second box of kanji cards arrived today. Here, then, is the revised mountain picture. The total in this shot is 1,000 kanji. Double the pile on the left and add a few more and you have the true scale of the task. Scary.

Thanks ET for the Turkish encouragement. I am sure you'll excuse me if the start of my Turkish studies is postponed while this temporary Japanese difficulty is sorted out!
Shorthand was a small hill but difficult to get to the top of because you had to learn some climbing techniques. Kanji is more like bloody Everest, although a lot more interesting than shorthand to try to climb.

I'm getting a sense of deja vu here - something to do with shorthand
