One way to deal with political spin is just to write down everything that has been said about a subject side by side with everything else and see what kind of a pretty picture it makes for the reader. "What I heard about Iraq in 2005" does that.

I like the spin "promoting democracy". What's the difference between what is going on in Gitmo and what happened under Saddam - except degree of oppression? How can we keep people months on end - without even a hearing? How can we spy on dissenters in our own country and keep a straight face when we avow to "promote liberal reforms on a global scale"?
